I am working on a few small fixer-upper jobs around this site. I don't like the borders around the art, so over time you'll see those disappear. More importantly though, I'm moving removing some of my older art (or art I'm just displeased with). Some of the galleries were a bit over crowded and on this site I went to put my best foot forward (If you want to see every crazy -sometimes awful- sketch I do, join my my tumblr).

Convention season is going into full swing and I'm busying working on new prints, stickers, and bookmarks.

Below are the 17 newest bookmarks inked and awaiting coloring and a portion of the sketch for a new print!

In personal life updates. I'm using to try and improve my health so I'm in better baby having shape because I am now actively trying to get pregnant. So. Yup there's that.

Don't tell my mom!
Bucky Bear stickers will be for sale at the Dallas Comic Con this weekend.
And uhhh they will not have those random artifacts around them. I was in a hurry to get these scanned for Free Comic Book Day, and didn't notice those ^^

And here you can see some of the in progress stickers and bookmarks (all sticker were finished last night YAY!)

Anyone want bookmarks? :D

Out of about 30 bookmarks I took to the convention, these are the one's that I did not sell so they are now up for sale in my store.

If anyone is interested in one, shoot me an e-mail at (please e-mail, don't comment, it's easier to keep track of who asked for what first that way) They are 5.00 + 1.00 shipping (it's 1.00 shipping no matter how many you buy).
The convention went wonderfully!
Sadly, my phone decided the SD card would be wonky so I couldn't take any photos :(

It was swell though. I met lots of enthusiastic fans, got to be an enthusiastic fan all over Adam Hughes and George Perez (who is the nicest man EVER). I didn't quite make it to meet Bruce Boxleitner and was a little dissapointed there, but ah well. Hopefully he will be back soon ^__^

And happily, I made enough money to book a table at the upcoming Dallas Comic Con in May. I am also looking at possibly doing an Arkansas convention and a convention in North Carolina! So that's exciting, and I hope it goes through.

Also, I actually managed to get up from the table a bit and meet some peoples. One really nice thing about the Dallas Cons is that IMHO they have a FANTASTIC Small Press presence. Just really awesome. For me, this gives these cons a really unique flair because you get these smaller artists that you don't get everywhere also, and the talent is always great.

Some of the Awesome Small Press peoples )

And so now, I'm updating the webpage, gettin bookmakrs mailed to the escapade convention, working on two commissions I got from the con and yup, things are going well.

And oh yes, I am open for commissions again :D
Gotta make sure all my social media thingies reflect that!

I got all the new prints printed off, plus the old ones re-stocked:
New prints

Larger Version )

And the bookmarks are done and most printed. I had to go buy sticker paper, but I've got it and I'm ready to finish up, and then [personal profile] ellyr_in_ink will help me cut them out. I've got the new prices sheet done, new business cards printed, all the original art framed and ready to be put up, annnddd yup looks good.

Still want more than 9 new bookmarks, but I can make more tonight if there's time. If not, that's how it goes. I waited too long this time and then got sick. You know how it goes, you procrastinate and then SOMETHING hits you at the last minute making it near impossible to get all you wanted done ^^

Anyway, Elly and I are about to head off to Irving to set up the backdrop and such. YAY!
Here are some WIPS for new prints and booksmarks I'm hoping to have done byyyy Saturday (though you illness of doom for making REALLY sure I was behind. Like I wasn't already -_-)

I'm pretty excited about the Caprica print, and the SPN one. I'm all nervous about ruining them at the last minutes. I wish traditional media had a "undo" button ^^;;;; So for very happy with my bookmarks though :D

I think I'm also going to bring the following as prints:

Not sure what all the funds will cover as new prints, but we will see.
AND AN! I will be selling original widget paintings! VERY EXCITED :D

First 10 of 25 bookmarks I'm hoping to have done by the convention :)
I'm particularly happy with Jack Frost, Elementary, Joker and Harley, and Michonne.

And now 15 more to go! Wish me luck!

Two patients limp into two different medical clinics with the same complaint. Both have trouble walking and appear to require a hip replacement.

The FIRST patient is examined within the hour, is x-rayed the same day and has a time booked for surgery the following week.

The SECOND sees his family doctor after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment, then waits 8 weeks to see a specialist, then gets an x-ray, which isn't reviewed for another week and finally has his surgery scheduled for 6 months from then. Why the different treatment for the two patients? )

In other news reading some HP Lovecraft, which is fun.
Speaking of Lovecraft, I'm finally starting to gear up for the Sci-Fi Expo convention Feb 11th and 12th.

I'm going to make Firefly and Ghosbuster stickers and bookmark for sure, and maybe soem more Battlestar Galactica stickers, as BSG bookmarks usually do all right.

Other shows I probably need more of:
Dr Who
Stat Trek
Probably not SGU ^^
Maybe Sherlock
Cthulu never hurts
And there is never enough (Babs!)Batgirl so it seems. Even at a SCi-Fi convention!

Anyway, if anyone is coming to the Dallas Sci-Fi Expo, be sure to stop by my table (Galactic Dust Bunnies) and I should have the table number next time I pimp this.

... I think. I'm not sure I get that in advance for this con....

On another note, I just realized I need to re-do this icon and include Jericho.
Are their any other prominant Superhero./artists I'm forgetting (I know, Jan, given Fashion design is an art, but I'm thinking painting/drawing here).

OH! Also! I'm watching Jericho! dslkfjhadfladhfalhdhjfljadskfh SO GOOD!

I'm going to Wincon this year!!
Because it's in DALLAS!!! *happy dance*

Is anyone else going? This is the first fan convention I'll be able to go to since Portus back when that was in Dallas in what, 2008?

I'm so excited y'all! I will probably give sketches for hugs if you are on any of my f'lists (DW, LJ, or Tumblr, or DA, or twitter, or.... good gravy that's a lot of social media there LOL)

Welp, it's Monday, officially the day after the con, and no, I didn't get up in time to exercise this morning. =P I think the two are related!

The Sundays are always slower than Saturdays, also shorter, closing at 4 rather than 6. However still always fun.

Slow means I can get a chance to meet other artists, or talk longer with ones I met Saturday. It also means I don't go nuts.

I did a few more bookmarks, and a portrait of a little girl as a princess, which was fun. I also did a very very teeny tiny Wonder woman for a small girl for 25 cents, and a Namor vs Human Torch and Toro Copic Marker sketch in someone's sketch book (for 10 dollars, and sadly, no there is no picture of this one).

My art is in the same space as Ben Dunn's and Brain Dehnam's and other comics artists (he only mentioned those but it's his con sketch book). That was a big ego boost, having someone value my art like that. And you know, as much as I try to be self-affirming, sometimes that little outside affirmation just rocks, you know?

Anyway artists at this con whom you should check out:

Miguel Aguilar
He's got a fantastic black and white style that shows a real mastery of pen and ink and tecniquest like stippling.
His art tends toward the grotesques that you'd see in old fanzines so it's not for the fainthearted; however, I loved the style and the imagery.
He's also self published and offered some great advice on that as well as printing.

Jason Chalker
I talked with his wife more than him, as he was up; however, his art is great pulp cover style takes on current pop culture icons. The covers go from witty to just laugh out loud funny and I had a great time seeing his work.

Russel Walks
This man's art blew me away. Hand down my favorite artist an the convention. He was great to talk to, and shared how he created some images. He ranges from fantastic portraits to interesting and funny graphic images.

So yes, those were the main artists I chatted with, all great people and great artists, so check out their stuff (note I didn't get a chance to visit the websites so ummm right, can't say what is or is not on there).

That was pretty much may day. I was invited to a on in April in Louisiana, and may go to it. It depends how the cards fall as I'd need a hotel for two nights.

Anyway, I'll have one last report with some pictures and then: start planning for May!! I want better displays, maybe a banner, and I REALLY need new art offerings and better prints.

Better prints especially. And larger.
I am not usually drawn to large prints but I seem to be the exception not the rule ^^ Oh and do more chibi comics. Maybe get them they're own blog!

And as usually, thanks to Elly and Kiji for helping me man the table, and extra thanks to Elly for creating a spreadsheet to track the finances and handling the accounting and making sure I had a table in May!

So, I spent yesterday working at the Dallas Sci-Fi expo, running th art table with the help of Chrissy and Shaina.

Per usual it was great fun! Busy though; however, busy is good! I did a few original books marks (Hetalia and Buffy) sold several and did what is IMHO a fantastic sketch portrait, among other art stuff.

I also managed to get up and speak with the artists. Slowly I'm getting better at managing my times so I don't miss everything. I'm horrific with names, so I'm gonna gab some business cards today so I can be sure to mention these great artists.

I also spoke with author Paul Black, writer of The Tels series, which look like a fantastic book. He is a smart, nice fellow and I enjoyed talking with him and being his table neighbor.

My other table neighbor, interesting enough, was con speaker Daryl Frazetti, who was absolutely fascinating and we had some very interesting conversations about Woman in Science Fiction and the contribution these character have had to the woman's movements in western culture. We also discusses why woman like anime so much despite the often very misogynistic attitudes in some series with a con goer.

I'm actually a little honored,he skipped Katee and Tracie's talks to talk with us about woman characters and woman fans!

So yes ltos and lots of fun and this time I remembered to eat! I packed sandwiches and apples and water.

And now, the bookmarks finished Friday night for this con (technically I'm working on two more Xena and The Beatles, but I don't think they'll be done).

These are all 5.00 each. After the con, I will be putting up for sale all left over bookmarks.

( Jan. 28th, 2011 07:43 am)

Why do I put things off so badly

7 out of 20 bookmarks are done
4 our of 20 started
9 out of 20 still need to be painted

And I'd still like to do that Beatles one....

Ahh anyone, bookmarks finished or not, I will be selling artwork at this weekends sci-fi expo convention:
Sci-fi Expo Presents: The Woman of Sci-Fi", It's this Saturday (11-6) and Sunday (12-4) at the Plano Convention center in Dallas Texas.

Come see me! Tickets at the door are only $10.00 per day

And note to self, I am absolutely overworked and over tired because I have way too much feminist rage that the speaker about the contributions of woman in sci-fi is male.
Can't we talk about ourselves :(
Can't woman fans of sci-f count?

I suspect overwork because usually on this kinda thing I like to listen to it before pre-judging it, but currently I am pre-judging it hard.

ALSO!! Of course ALL the spotlight guest artists are MALE. >.>
Oh but wait, according to the interviews in the Woman of Marvel stuff, the marvel lady artists say there isn't any bias toward male, we ladies just need to apply ourselves and it's all equal.

*head desk* (I do realize you can't bash you company in your companies interview, but seeing them basically say there was no gender bias at all in comics companies/art industry and we woman needed to try harder hurt).

These are the 12 line drawings I did for the coloring book a sold at the convention recently.

I'm hoping to add a few more, remove the scar and the overtly HP images and actually sell these at more than just cons. But for now, her it is in it's original fanzine form - minus the cover and inside cover (the cover was the Charlie walking the dragon image and it is called 'Wistful Times Coloring Book')

Larger Images )

As you can see it is a mix of older images, re-done for black and white, and new ones. I'm really really proud of this :) My one gripe though is that, due to a math error, I ended up having to make them smaller than I wanted so this batch is 6.5 X 4. Next batch will be proper size darn it!

On the off chance anyone is interested in purchasing one though, you can contact me at:
Here is my piece for the silent auction Thursday night, benefiting The Hero Initiative

Second day of conventions!
Yesterday went great.

I'll have an art table, per usual these days, so wish me luck! If you see a lady dressed as a Ghostbuster (yes at the trek con) behind an art table, that'll be me!

And look! I got my bookmarks done early enough to scan them this time! I got some of my new bookmarks scanned, but not that ones I drew last night.

Soo new bookmarks for this con (minus 8)!

Bookmarks )

I already have people wanting the Castiel and Dean one =P
